This Network architect position will be involved in planning and designing of network solutions. This role includes 3rd level troubleshooting of complicated networking configurations as well as ground up development of new solutions. Candidates but be experienced with the full life cycle of network deployment including the design, build, test and deploy phases. It will be expected that this person can work in a lab environment and test out of production as well as continually improve the testing environment itself. There is a big focus for this role on VoIP and Wireless and candidates need to have expert knowledge of these systems and their continued improvement and deployment. Routing and Switching design will also be a big part of this role and candidates will be expected to have a well rounded background within Network Systems. Key Responsibilities/Duties:
- Will provide assistance and resolution for network problems
- Develop, recommend, and assist with the implementation of complex upgrades and improvements to the data network as assigned
- Develop solutions to complex network problems and ensure designed solutions are testing prior to implementation
- Apply advanced skills to resolve complex problems not covered by existing procedures or practices independently
- Display a high level of critical thinking in bringing successful resolution to high-impact, complex and/or cross-functional problems
- Responsible for training operations engineers on new solutions and emerging technologies
Must have:
- Should have expert knowledge with Network technologies and be willing to branch out and learn.
- 5+ years experience in a complex multi-vendor network using technologies such as OC3, OSPF, DS3, T1, Layer 2/3 Switching/Routing on a 8600, 5500, ASN, BCN and ARN series platforms and hierarchical network topologies
- Experience with TDM equipment (GDC preferred)
- Experience designing and implementing comprehensive network solutions.
- Can operate independently to plan, implement, Design and or engineer network solutions
- Able to create comprehensive documentation using Visio and related tools
- Can work alone, without close supervision, although he or she will be part of a team
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training
- Some Nortel experience and the willingness to work in a multiple technology environment.

- Advanced certifications for equipment supported
- Advanced Nortel Experience
- Experience with Cisco, HP, and Juniper systems preferred
